Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas Sally Halloween Costume
Be Sally This Halloween!
I love Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. I used to watch it every year with my brother and sister. I especially love the music! While I was in college I created my very own Sally costume for less then $5.00! I used a dress I already had, and covered it in scraps of fabric to create Sally's look. Everyone loved my costume! I have ideas to create your own Sally costume, and links if you would like to purchase an already made Sally costume. Either way, you are sure to have a lot of fun as Sally!

Create Sally's Look
Step One: Find a knee length dress (preferably in your closet!)
Step Two: Go to a fabric store and buy fabric remnants or scraps and safety pins if you don't have any.
Step Three: Make sure you have black boots or shoes in your closet for your costume, or go buy some!
Step Four: Pin the fabric scraps to your dress to give it the Sally look. This is where you get to be creative! I used 4 safety pins for each fabric scrap. Remember, there is no perfect way to do this! Sally's dress is very colorful and mismatched.
Step Five: Use eyeliner to draw stitches on your arms, legs, neck and face. This is the fun part!
Step Six: Either wear a red wig or temporarily dye/spray your hair red. (Red dye does not come out easily on blonde hair -I learned the hard way!)
You can do the basics as I have described above, or you can creatively add your own touches to your Sally costume. If you can find them, black and white striped socks look great with your black shoes. Also, check out the amazing make-up tutorial below if you truly want a cartoon face!
Sally make-up tutorial
Wow, this is a great make-up tutorial for those who want to go above and beyond for their costume. Back when I was Sally I kept it simple, but this is just amazing! She looks just like the cartoon character!
