Top 7 Items on My Christmas Wish List 2014

Updated on September 20, 2014

Dear Santa, This Christmas I would like.....

After a year dominated by my knee injury and recovery, I still have a lot to be grateful for.

I may hobble around a bit, but I still have my leg and I can walk. I may have missed out on quite a few things I'd have liked to have done, but I've learned a lot and been given the opportunity to follow some of my other interests whilst I've been housebound and restricted. I haven't done as many things with my family as I would usually have done, but I have an amazing new grandson and everyone is healthy and doing well.

So yes, I have a lot gifts to say thanks for this year.

But as Christmas time begins to come around again, one of the things we love to do in our family is share gifts with each other. My daughters always say I'm difficult to buy for. Maybe because I have a diverse range of interests, or maybe because I am lucky enough to already have most things I need, or maybe both, I'm not sure.

So I'm writing this list to give them a few ideas, and drop a few hints about what I would put on my Christmas wish list to Santa this year.

Holistic Therapies Gift Voucher

I've always had an interest in alternative therapies, but since my knee injury last year I've had time to read around some of them in more details and even experience one or two.

My favorite is Reiki treatment, and I would love to be able learn more about this amazing healing energy and take a Reiki 1 course eventually.

I'm lucky to know a lovely lady, who works as an Holistic Therapist. She is very experienced in a wide range or therapies and practices and has some very wise advice. She gave me my first Reiki treatment earlier this year and it was such an amazing experience I can't wait to go back again. I would love to experience some of the other therapies that she offers too.

Emma offers Gift Vouchers for purchase and these can be used towards her therapies and courses. This would be the perfect gift for me as it would help me to relax and enjoy the healing energies whilst learning more about a topic I'm growing to love.

Fondant Icing Rolling Pin

I've been doing DIY Cake Decorating for over 20 years now. I don't do it on a regular basis, just for fun when there's a special birthday or occasion.

The photograph shows the Orchid Wedding Cake I made a couple of years ago for my sister's wedding

I tend not to spend a lot on decorating utensils and accessories, preferring to make use of the different things I can find around my kitchen. Sometimes though, I do need to buy the odd set of cutters or new batch of food colouring.

One thing I've always thought I could REALLY make use of though is a plastic fondant icing rolling pin. I've always made do with my old wooden rolling pin, which has carved in handles on each side. This is fine until I want to roll out an extra large piece of fondant, and then I end up with dints and scuffs where the handles pressed into the fondant during the lifting process.

A plastic fondant rolling pin doesn't have handles, so would be perfect for smooth rolling and damage free lifting every time.

Crystal Healing Stones Reference Book

Whilst I've been reading about holistic alternative therapies, I've come across the idea of using the energies of Crystals for healing. During recent visits to several Mind, Body, Spirit fairs I have been attracted to a variety of pretty coloured and patterned stones. Some are set in pretty jewellery items, some are made into ornaments and some are just sold in the natural form. They are very intriguing, and hard to resist!

At the moment, I know little of what healing properties each holds and just tend to make selections for which I want to buy using my intuition and choosing the ones that I am drawn to most. I would love to have a reference book to look up more information about them and see how I can best channel the energies that they hold.

Astrology Diary and Calendar

Last Autumn I was lucky enough to attend an Introduction to Astrology course. I'd been interested in Astrology for some time and when the opportunity came along it was too good to miss. What a fascinating time I had at those classes, and met some lovely people into the bargain too!

I picked up lots of information, learned how to "read" an astrology chart and became fascinated by interpretations of them, particularly when they related to specific events. Coincidences maybe, but some indications and alignments are just too strong to argue with!

That Christmas, much to my delight, my daughter bought me two astrology books. One was a sun sign horoscope reading and the other was an Astrology Diary. The diary has daily information about where the planets are right then, lots of useful information to help with your own interpretations and a week by week overview of what planetary influences will be at work at that time.

I have used my Astrology Diary almost daily this year and will be sad to see it come to an end in December, so I would love to find another one in my Christmas stocking this year, to help see me through 2013!

Home Wine Making Refill Kit

One of the most unusual presents I got last Christmas was a home wine making kit. On reflection, my sister made a pretty good gift choice there, because I love red wine and this was a novel idea, something I'd never been bought before.

Well, the wine making kit stayed in the box for over 6 months - my knee injury saw to that! I couldn't get about to make the wine, and my walking was wobbly enough as it was without the help of alcoholic influence!

Finally, during the summer, my daughter and I decided to have a go and brought out the box we'd stored away. What fun! We made the wine from scratch, tending to it carefully and following the simple instructions to the letter. Just over two weeks later, we syphoned the brew into the bottles, created our own "Chateau" labels and poured ourselves a large glass each!

Yummy! It was so easy to do and such fun too, I can't wait to do it all over again. We have the equipment we need now - everything was included in our starter pack - so all I need is the refill kit. I promise I won't drink it all at once .....

Large Jewellery Box

I've had my beloved jewellery box over 25 years, ... and now its sadly falling apart. I have other, smaller boxes but I've always loved the sections and compartments inside my large black jewellery box.

My jewellery is in need of a sort out now. Broken costume beads are mingled in with gold rings. Earings lie in dressing table pots unpaired. Chains are tangled and their pendants missing.

It would be great to have a new large jewellery box, with sections for my rings and hooks on which to hang my necklaces. Then I could restore my jewellery to its organised state and keep them safe from getting broken or lost again.

Telescope

I'm not all that into astronomy, but because of my interest in astrology I do find the planets fascinating and love to know where they are and what they're up to at the time.

I try to look out for special moments like last year when Venus and Jupiter were "dancing" together, or when the moon is making a trip especially close to the earth ... Super Moon time!

I've always liked to look at the stars and love to try to find Polaris when I'm in a different part of the world. Its kind of reassuring to spot it and to know that when I'm facing towards the North Star, I'm looking in the direction of my own back door. Belonging!

So I've thought for a while now, that it would be cool to have a telescope to see the planets and stars a little more closely. I don't mean a large observatory type telescope of course, just a small starter one would be more the thing. I could stand outside my house looking at the stars on a clear night, and take it with me to places like Bordeaux in France where the sky is so clear and not polluted with lights out in the peaceful countryside. Bliss!
