Trick or Treating and Collecting for Charity
Halloween Fundraising - Collecting for Charities at Halloween
Okay, this photo is NOT scary, but going to bed hungry or battling breast cancer or seeing a homeless animal begging for its life IS scary. That's all the more reason why trick or treating on Halloween is a wonderful opportunity to go out collecting for charity.
Many organizations like UNICEF are long established for donation drives during Halloween. There are also many local grassroots groups who can benefit greatly with a donation drive during Halloween.
Why not make an effort this year to see that life is made a little sweeter for everyone and every animal? Working together collecting for charities while trick or treating for Halloween......well, that's a BOO-tiful thing! Happy Halloween to All!
Trick or Treating - Collecting for Animal Charities
Animal shelters and rescues are always in need of donations. Why not collect for animal rescue charities while out trick or treating?
Sew this easy dog vest with donation pockets using this original PDF pattern available on Etsy for your dog to carry monies collected for the homeless animals. The pattern was designed as an ADOPT ME vest for dogs, but can also easily be used to help collect monies for many worthy causes.
Use a Halloween print fabric of your choice for the side fabric panels to be worn during charity collections at Halloween. (See sample Halloween fabric inset in picture). And if you find yourself really short on time and want to outfit your animal for Halloween, sew this quick and easy SAFE bandana for dogs.

Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat
Food Drive at Halloween
High school students belonging to an active Thespian group can participate in this program to collect canned food donations for their local or area food banks while they are out trick or treating. It's a great way to support a community by working together for others less fortunate. And it's also great for public relations when teenagers show they are willing to give their time to charity instead of spending Halloween getting into a lot of mischief. :) Info and registration here at International Thespian Society.

Charity Etiquette
Identify the Charity You're Collecting For....
A bit of Charity Etiquette
Whatever group you are collecting for, ensure you are dressed appropriately or carrying a thank you coupon or literature of some kind identifying the charitable organization.
Always remember to THANK anyone who donates to the charity....no matter how small or large the contribution. It all contributes to the goal of helping those people or animals in need.
Turn in monies and/or items/goods collected as soon as possible to the designated collection point for that specific charity.
