What makes a costume Gothic?
There has to be an element of darkness to it for starters. Usually lots of black and darker colors are worn to achieve the Gothic effect.
In achieving a Gothic look with your costume, I love when pairing strong colors with darker colors like black and teal or black and red for example.
Many Victorian and Medieval styles are interwoven into the Gothic costume theme. The Gothic theme makes me think of old and dark towers and houses that are draped with spider webs in pretty much every corner.
I can't help but think of Morticia Addams in 'The Addams Family' when I think of a Gothic costume and atmosphere. Granted, she was not a plus size, but we don't know what she ended up looking like as she got older now do we?
She did have a dark beauty about her and her Gothic presence was unmistakable.

I Love the Gothic Vamp look that Morticia Adams so elegantly pulled off in the hit series in the 1960's and 'The Adams Family' movies! This costume is very similar to how I remember her looking when I used to watch 'The Adams Family' TV series every week when I was a kid.
