Catalyst of Dreams

Updated on August 11, 2015
Source

i walk a path

situated somewhere

between soul's horizon

and the dirt lodged underneath fingernails,

a road carved out of blocks of air,

revealing itself one curve at a time

a Michaelangelo in the making.

it is enough

to walk in silence,

marking signposts along the way,

a chalk garden

of memories,

dreams. large and small

escaping through a hole in my pocket,

littering the way,

breadcrumbs marking my way home.

"a Michaelangelo in the making", what a beautiful way to describe life! Audrey you always hit the mark with the beauty and truth of your poetry.

      Voted up, awesome, and beautiful.

Meaningful on several levels. Phrases like walking on "a road carved out of blocks of air" and "memories dreams. large and small escaping through a hole in my pocket" conjure up memories f literal incidents with lasting impact on how life turned out. Time for reflection--again!

I really like this poem. Dreams are ephemeral. I love the lines: I walk a path . . . between soul's horizon and the dirt lodged underneath fingernails. What an unusual image. You are so imaginative, Audrey.

Very meaningful, Audrey. Now it is up to us not to lose the chalk nor miss the signposts and the bread crumbs. And the illustration you chose is perfect.

This one made me stop and think back to the many times I've thought about finding my way back home. Chalking the way and losing breadcrumbs to find it is a beautiful metaphor for finding the path. So beautiful!. I've missed your poetry.

I enjoyed reading your poem of balance between the literal world and the figurative.
