A Poem For My Niece- From One Of Her Aunts - I Love You!

I remember very well

The day you came into our family line

I hurried to the hospital

Got there just in time

You a little tiny girl

With just a little hair

I smiled and laughed and held you

You just sat and smiled there

I wasn’t always there for you

As you grew and grew and grew

Soon you were a teenager

Where the time went no one knew

Things haven’t always been easy

But like a trooper you pulled through

Always trying to find your way

When all you had to do is be you

You want to be the apple

Of some boy’s eye

But you found out the hard way

Boy’s sometimes lie

You have so many friends

Who love who you really are

For me you have always been

The cute one, the sweet one, the star

I won’t promise to be better

But I certainly will really try

To be there for you when you need me

To hold you when you cry

I love you, my sweet little niece

I always have and always will

I know you love me, too

It’s just the way we are still
