Once upon a time I was in Love

Updated on April 24, 2015

I once was head over heels in love.

Now am not i look back and see

that it was just my young foolish years.

I would admit it was nice while it lasted,

but they were all years that I've wasted

For love is a serious committed affair

That's why i don't play with my heart

for it's not a musical instrument to play

your melodies on, so if you are a game

player and a flirty little thing. Please I

beg of you stand clear. For twice is too

much to be heart broken, so I'd prefer

you leave me be.

I am doing fine since i finally moved on

nice poem about the pain of a broken heart, in fact people don't feel take love as a commitment in this materialistic age it's become just a flirt thing or time passing for many people, that gives so much pain to a sensitive heart especially when we take some one so serious and hold so dear to heart but we don't get that sincerity in return and get to know some moment that it was just a game for that person then it gives unbearable pain, passed through this phase too and can understand the pain hidden in your poem, anyway time moves on and so do we, nice poem, enjoyed reading, stay blessed ladyfiddler!

Thanks dear so far I haven't made that mistake again because that's since 2007 and we're in 2013 and I am still free single and disengaged by God's grace.

We all learn from our mistakes, or should do. The sadness is when we make the same mistakes all over again. An interesting poem.

Those years were not wasted. So, it didn't last but you learned a lot from that relationship. The 2nd time around should be better and the 3rd and even the 4th until you meet and make a match. The best way to stay in a relationship is when both you are spiritually yoked. Jesus is a Savior for your heart. He doesn't want to be the Boss. He wants the best for you. Commit your heart and love to Him and He'll guide you to another person of the opposite sex who commits to Him as well.

      Hi Jo,

The pain of a broken heart can run so deep, but when your heart if filled with the love of Jesus, that pain is erased for He is divine, true agape love. He is the only one who can filled that empty hole in all of us, regardless if we are in a good relationship or not. Powerful poem. Great imagery.

God bless you. Hugs, Faith Reaper

We can give our heart to Jesus and Jesus can share his love with many of us. As for us humans, we can also share our heart with Jesus and others. It's not the same kind of love.

For me love has no boundaries... I am a firm believer in faith, love, respect, forgiveness, etc.... at least it helped me come out of a dark place at one point in my life.

Very beautiful poem about love and breakup! It can be very sad to fall in love to realize that the other person is not as committed!
