100+ iPhone/iPad Tricks That iOS 12 Has Just for You

Updated on December 9, 2018

iOS 12 Has Hidden Secrets

Who reads anymore when everyone has iPhones? But despite what some say, picking up a book and flipping through pages at will is still easier than using a complex electric device relying on batteries and illuminated screens. It’s also easier to pass a book around definitely easier to look at a page describing how to do a feature on the iPhone — because it’s a printed page, you can have the page open to where you want while looking at both it and the iPhone’s screen. Or to be more precise, it’s a lot easier to look at the large page of this softbound book than it is to a)scroll through on the iPhone, b)have to remember what you just read about, c)try it out, d)go back to where you were just reading on the iPhone and e)start all over again

So that’s why we give a big thumbs up to having a book that talks about iOS 12, Apple’s latest operating system, rather than trying to view and do it all on the touchscreen. There’s so much stuff Apple puts into their OS each update, no way you can “just” find what you want. Or even know what that “want” is. And also because we like what the title says: 100+ iPhone/iPad Tricks You Can Do Right Now!

Time To Read

The layout of the book isn’t fancy, which is good, but consists of easy to read text that is divided into sections so you can go to what you are most interested in. Images are included to highlight what you are to do for each “trick”, making those in a hurry able to tap into their visual side quicker. The book doesn’t just give you the info, but also makes it easy for you to try out what you’re seeing. The book is a good big size and so too is the text and illustrations which makes for easy on the eyes -- then just glance away and at the iPhone you’re holding or which was lying on the table and now being picked up and try the cool thing you just learned. Hey, isn’t a smartphone supposed to be all about ease of use? Using this book makes it so.

Which leads to what do you find when you open up this book — examples of how to make phone calls? No, no and no (okay, actually there is a tip or three relating to making calls). It centers around the changes to apps, like the camera for example and others, and all the new things that iOS now includes. Think of it sort of like being “Easter eggs,” although not really hidden, just a bit hard to find because there’s so many things going on. Who can remember all the new additions or included extras baked into iOS 12? Few can.

Read and Learn

That’s why it’s helpful for someone to point it out. Hey — that’s what this book does. It’s wrong to assume that everyone knows about Night Shift or that shaking the phone will bring up a specific result (get the book to find out what that result is), or how to quickly change the flashlight illumination. There’s just so much anyone can remember. Which is why there’s this book and why it’s worth not just a read, but a read and then the follow through of trying out what it’s telling you. Chances are that there’s something you didn’t know that now can save you time or make you smile or just improve on using your iPhone as you go through your day.

100+ iPhone/iPad Tricks You Can Do Right Now! Is written by Liz Weimar who is no stranger to making cool information available on topics of interest. It’s a hands-on book for all ages and all iPhones from the 6/SE and on up that support iOS 12 (meaning iPads too). Best of all it tells you interesting things about your iPhone that you didn’t know you wanted, but now have.
