In the inkwells
of the craters
that mar my face,
nightmares fester,
tides tremble
and men are moved

Her mom was just a squatter,
uninvited 'neath your home,
who gave birth to this kitten,
then left her there alone,
You took her in so kindly,
and now look what you've got,
a star for your crown in heaven,
and a pet named, "Diddly Squat.

Lonely is a
Stouffer's
frozen dinner,
on the sun porch
in the rain,
It's a
Helen Keller phone,
deaf and blind to
your aching need,
sitting dumb
far too often.
