A Big Hug

Updated on October 5, 2014

My arms open wide
inviting you to step inside.
I close them tight
and squeeze with all my might.
It may not ease your fears
but at least you know I care.
My shoulders will dry
the tears that you cry.

Wrapped in my arms
you can weather the storms
that life has thrown your way.
You can count on me any time of the day
or during the darkest of nights.
I will hold you tight
and try to make it right
or give you the courage to keep up the fight.

The moon and stars up above
are showering us with their love.
Blessings abound
as my arms surround.
Lovers and friends alike
and family with delight
for my arms are always open wide
and with a soft smile, I welcome you inside.

With a heart as big as the sky
I will absorb the pain as you cry.
Tears of joy or sorrow
and dreams of tomorrow.
Just remember when you need a friend
who will be there until the end.
You can turn to me for a hug
knowing that I won’t judge.
