A Cascade of Dreams
i balance afternoons
on trays of dreams.
each one
a bit of piquancy
unexpected on the tongue.
each, an affront
to the palate
of the effete epicurean
who guards my hours.
blameless,
the hummingbird
passes,
finding sweetness where it may.
nasturtiums draped
through an old walnut tree above me,
cascading orange and green,
a waterfall of dreams
as i drown in their softness.
