A Christmas Wish - and H.O.W to have a better Christmas -Christmas Poetry

Updated on December 5, 2012

A Christmas robin, probably wishing it was a little warmer... | Source

The shops are full of decorations,

Kids are full of expectations

Of presents that they may receive,

It's Christmas! And I do believe

It very well may snow this year,

And fill us all with Yuletide cheer!

The turkeys cooked are way too large,

Mulled wine is served that will recharge

The energies of grown ups here,

Some that dread this time of year,

Knowing that they will get fat,

With empty wallets and silly hats!

Others love this time of year,

And celebrate it with a beer,

Or two, or three, or four,

Then after dinner, hear them snore!

The kids meanwhile, love nothing more

To open presents on the floor.

And so to all a Christmas message,

May dreams come true, and every fetish,

(As long as it's all healthy fun)

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Everyone!

But....

Spare a thought for those less lucky,

This time of year it may be plucky

To lend a helping hand or two

There's always one worse off than you!

My Christmas wish for all to hear

Especially this time of year

Is that we all go out our way

To help someone in need today!

The one to whom we are most kind,

Could very well then have a mind

To go out and help someone too

And no, it probably won't be you...

LOL

We all need help in times of strife

And selfless acts can save a life

No matter how small your action seems

It makes a difference...

This is my dream!

The H.O.W Project

I would really like to tell you now,

About a project that's called

H.O.W.

My words are simple

And usually fun

And my Christmas wish

Is a simple one,

But it's my way to start the change

We, the people, can rearrange

The social problems of this age,

So I'd like to redirect you

To this page!

Bill Holland A.K.A Billybuc

Started H.O.W

Because he felt stuck

In a world that needed aid

And so a solution to help he made!

Writers round the world unite,

To write articles

Highlight the plight

And offer different ways to help

(Have you ever tried to rhyme with help?)

So join us now, follow this link

And then tell Bill what you think,

You'll find many other writers there,

And Facebook too if you dare,

I beg you now, please take the time

And thank you for reading my little rhyme!

A Christmas message from two of the greatest...

Jen, what an awesome contribution to the H.O.W. project! You know I love poetry and you tied it in so well!

The Little Drummer Boy is my favorite Christmas carol. I actually have the David Bowie/Bing Crosby version on a CD compilation. I'd not seen them performing this beautiful song.

You have done a wonderous job of reaching out and delving within. Wow! You are awesome!

Crikey folks, seems I've got some catching up to do... :-) Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments, shares, votes and most of all support! @ Bill... you are very welcome my friend... I was actually a bit worried about this, I mainly write silly rhymes to make people smile... that's my talent! When I started reading about the H.O.W. project I didn't know how I could be a part of it, but it is such a good and important idea, I decided to give it a go, my main aim was to tell people it existed and direct them to the many other talented writers here who are all much more articulate than I... and if I can help the movement grow then brilliant! :-)

HoneyBB... yelp! OF COURSE!!!!! lol I couldn't get past "kelp" and this really has nothing to do with fish... :-)

To all my friends here, old and new, I am so very pleased to have met you, and I am honoured to have the opportunity to take part in H.O.W... hugs to all, Jen

Awesome poems that bring back memories of Christmas's past and make people look at what they have and what they can give. And, oh, the task of trying to rhyme with help ... the very thought of it makes me yelp! Voted +++ Thanks for sharing.
