i find that i am easily distracted

from the realities of my vision

and drawn by colors and shapes

and by their relationships

across the divide of my attention

they shimmer and gleam

tints of car windows

chrome glinting

it is a far cry

from my to-do list

a portal into some other reality

untouched by the aspirate

of drawn out duty

and i welcome it

Voted up and beautiful. This is a wonderful poem Audrey. Sometimes those kinds of distractions are just what we need to be inspired.

Another one of my favorites of yours. Thanks for being a poet and expressing what the rest of us either don't know or can't share in less than 700 words.

It is very easy to read, yet it has deep meaning. Sometimes I do not notice anything around me, I get overwhelmed by my problems or by things that already should not have any power over me and then I order myself to stop and look around one more time. And this is the moment that I remember years afterwards.

Thank you so much for reading and commenting. I had a very wise person once tell me that if really saw what was in front of me, there was no room left for the things that plagued me--

So true! There is only one thing that matters - now but one does not have it because one is afraif of living one's life.

Tints of car windows! I got a new pair of polarized sunglasses. The car windows (Florida tint jobs) are kaleidoscopic now. I really like the illustration, and I know good art.

I can really relate to this. I have been day dreaming a lot lately while riding the bus.
