A Father Without Compare
Happy Fathers' Day
1. He was called Francis M. Nwaubani
A true son of a glorious family
Raised by his sisters - not one only
An orphan by the time he was thirty.
2. He married my late mum in a thrilling ceremony
A man patient, loving and one among so many
Devoted his life to his duty - and this, his family
Brought enough determination to achieve unparalleled glory
3. We were two who survived - my sister and I only
He paid a steep price to ensure we grew sturdy
20 years after they tied the knot traditionally
She kicked the bucket - this wife he found so cuddly
4. Undaunted, he trudged on doggedly
Seriously determined to invest all his remaining energy
A speed bump or two - he still wouldn't proceed slowly
Thirteen years after hers, his bucket came around suddenly
5. I'll be quick - tears are in my eyes already
Dad left to be with mum ever so hurriedly
I miss him - oh! so, so deeply
A father extra-ordinnaire - one NEVER to be honoured cheaply...
I would gladly give an arm and a leg to celebrate you, dad
If that would show my deepest appreciation for the sacrifices you made...Adieu!
Happy Fathers' Day.
