Unexpected Kisses
Updated on October 19, 2013
The flight of
a mosquito
swallowed whole,
from the vigilant wait
in a lily bowl,
plucks a kiss
from its appetite,
from the buzzing in his
line of sight.
Bulging eyes
scour the pond,
with sticky tongue
and hungry yawn
It snatches another
with wayward kiss,
from love to close
for tongue to miss,
He readys again
his sticky dart,
a craftsman
so delighted in his art,
busy with the flying feast
no care what lies behind
there lurks the slithering kiss
of a lover from the slime,
the water snake,
out on patrol
plucks stickey tongue
from the lily bowl.
