Unexpected Kisses

Updated on October 19, 2013

The flight of

a mosquito

swallowed whole,

from the vigilant wait

in a lily bowl,

plucks a kiss

from its appetite,

from the buzzing in his

line of sight.

Bulging eyes

scour the pond,

with sticky tongue

and hungry yawn

It snatches another

with wayward kiss,

from love to close

for tongue to miss,

He readys again

his sticky dart,

a craftsman

so delighted in his art,

busy with the flying feast

no care what lies behind

there lurks the slithering kiss

of a lover from the slime,

the water snake,

out on patrol

plucks stickey tongue

from the lily bowl.

Hi Jenna Pope. It is a pleasure meeting you. Thanks for reading my daily silliness. I am in a playful mood that simply, will not let me be!

Giggle. Playful is good. It's really playful. Poor froggy. . . . ending link of that food chain! haha Patience only suffices so far.

      Delightful piece, Alan.

You owe a debt of gratitude to the snake! Frogs eat butterflies.

Very nice, I much enjoyed. To be eaten alive while you're enjoying lunch, as is the way of the world. Voted up and funny just because it struck me as humorous.

Hello dmop, Thanks for the read and the interesting comment. I suspect, we are being eaten alive by many things. Perhaps, most of all, by our willingness to sit on all the wrong plates! Be well. Look forward to acquainting myself with your work.
