A Gift for the Broken

Updated on November 8, 2012

My friend I see you

Although you feel alone

Broken by life's flaws.

Passing reminders

Of mistakes

Have conquered your soul

Oh! What a dark night

Filled with tears

That roll down your cheeks.

Cheeks that were once rosy with laughter

Are now pale with despair.

I see you sitting there

In the darkness.

I know who you are;

You are me.

I have come back to give you a gift;

A gift for the broken girl sitting in the dark

To you I offer light.

Your light is dim.

A fading drop of orange flame on a scarce wick.

Let me light your candle

And tell you stories of sunshine;

Stories of great green paths full of promise.

Yes, girl, the sky will open to reveal splendor

A beautiful array of color

Drops of iridescent color

Reflecting off sunny beams.

This spectacle is just for you;

A gift for the broken.
