A Haiku - Obedience

Updated on February 23, 2015

A Haiku - Obedience

Stray not from the path.

Things happen when we obey.

Wondrous, right things all.

There is more to life than worship, as important as worship is, there is also righteous action and obedience.

John 8:31,32

"If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

There is a peace from righteous living that no other way of living can attain.

Mobs assemble, tyrants rule, but the humble servant of a loving God shall rule with Christ in glory.

Obedience to the commandments of the gospel, which by the way includes righteous actions such as loving service to others and love toward all God's sons and daughters, may not protect us from harm in this world, but has the promised gift of eternal life in the life to come.

A wise grandfather taught his granddaughter that the teachings of Jesus can be summed up in three words: Obedience, Love, Charity. I think that encapsulates them pretty well.

Forgiveness incorporates all three, which is why it is so important.

My belief that if we do right by all, we will end up where we can enjoy a pleasant afterlife.

I concur, though I abstain from applauding my own haiku.

I think Christ expected obedience to God, but he also advocated questioning the actions of our religious leaders when he attacked the Pharisees. Blind obedience to human authority is never good, and leads to tyranny. Nonetheless, I applaud your haiku.
