A Letter To Me - Poem

I have a BA in English Writing and a Minor in Sociology. I am a writer, editor, feminist, and potterhead.

Throughout our school years, we're often encouraged to think of our past and future choices, and to reflect on them. We often wrote to ourselves.

What good does it do to write to my younger self? I was so much braver when I was younger! And as for the future? I don't know! And I haven't made any of the choices that will get me there.

I'd rather write to myself now!

A Letter To Me

Too often a letter to me
is for Eng--
lish Class.
A prompt to address
a me
that I don't know.

A younger me,
or me in 10 years,
doesn't need me to tell her
how she feels.

I need me now,
to let me see
things will be okay.

I need a letter
in 10 days
that compliments
my shoes,
and offers to lift
me out of the blues.

The me here now
wants advice on jobs
and what not to do.

Me in 10 years?
Who knows!
Only she;
and that's how it should be.

Write a letter to yourself! Buy pretty cardstock from Amazon

What I want more
is a letter for
of what not to say.

I need tips and tricks
on dealing with bullies
in the here and now
when I can't stalk out
of my employer's office.

Not for 10 years ago
when I had the guts
and struts
to slap my harasser
and knew my mom's hugs
were waiting.

I need me now!
applying for jobs, reaching
for those door knobs
and pushing on slightly
ajar, but stuck jams.

I need me here!
In the thick of it,
dancing to the tune
of my once more
rediscovered heart.

Not mourning the loss
of a friend--
and dwelling on what ifs
for the past tense.

Future me knows
how I'm feeling
and what I'm hoping.
There's no need to remind her
of reasons she split
her path
to where she will be.

So for me in the now
to me here in 30 seconds
in the mirror or car,
on the phone,
or jamming to tunes,

Please Vote! =) I'd love to hear from you

Which you would you write to?

This Is My Letter To Me:

I saw your decision this morning;
Smart Girl.

I love how it's obvious
you took the time,
Thorough Me.

Keep that comfortable,
AND bombshell feel
in your work clothes.

Ambitious Woman.

Others notice your work.

I'm so proud of
who you are
in this moment
and I can't wait
to watch you
become more you.

Thank you so much. =) That's my exact goal each time I write one, and for this one it was doubly so. I felt every word as I wrote it.
