A Mark Upon the Heart: A Response to Billybuc's Challenge

Updated on February 14, 2015

Audrey is a poet, classical singer and voice teacher, recovering attorney and licensed psychotherapist.

the lone sentinel
the lone sentinel

vaults keep

hearts hidden

within the crust

of earth's soft layer, unbidden

stories form

rubbing against bark

in fragile susurration

suspended

over years

reminding the trees

that once they were not alone.

Once again, BillyBuc challenges us to write to the picture above. As my pieces are always so short, I cannot have an outgoing link here, so you will have to find BillyBuc's challenge and other's responses without a kink from me--I am so sorry about that.

Beautifully creative, your words emphasised the memories of something that once was, but is now part of the earth and trees that surround it. Very nicely done:-))

Audrey, your words are profound and beautiful.

This is another one that I must write, but you raised the bar so high. I know it is not a competition but, your work makes me worry that mine would be good enough.

      Blessings dear friend
