A Message to the Future

Updated on September 5, 2017

If I could leave just my own signature on the written page,

I'd say to the world to be on guard, about what you gauge.

Never take the voice that condemns a thing as for granted,

Beware, to be alert, as for often they may be quite slanted.

Please do not join a cause, not knowing what lies beneath,

For often there is much more there, than the simplest belief.

Wars have started because of this, in this judgment of error,

Many did use the most obvious, to begin their reign of terror.

Support brethren of the world, join the League of Nations,

Never ever give in to greed, while evil rules with ovations.

Regard each person on this earth, as a sister and brother,

Remember every one of us had a most wonderful mother.

We all are a part of the circle of life, here upon this sphere,

We were meant to live without any dread, not a single fear.

This world belongs to all of us, no one has the right to rule,

As those narcissistic few, try to beguile and then all to fool.

The planet, oceans, and landscape is rich, ours all to revere,

All creatures are owed a deepest respect, while we are here.

The air and water are a precious gift, all to be well deserved,

As over centuries we have shared this world, to be preserved.

The Family of Man has obligations, duties we should perform,

Cooperation, all caring mean so much, to weather every storm.

Our time left upon this earth judged by how we have sustained,

The care and sharing of each one here, have to be maintained.

The benevolence that has been presented to us each,

This charge is up to us and this one we all must teach.

Be so thankful for what we have, not let it go to waste,

Being patient and understanding, not acting with haste.

Respecting of all that lives and helping out when we can,

Showing the entire human population, the family of Man.

Preparing the children of this planet for a better life at last,

Leaving a fine legacy then, a grand judgment of our past.

My favorite stanza is the second noting stating that warning and its consequences. All good theme of responsibility, respect and legacy.

You have such a big heart and always give your fellow man and woman the benefit of the doubt. I admire the way you transform your thoughts into verse.
