A Metaphysical Experience
A transcendent occasion, one that's recalled,
Happened to me not too long ago in the past.
A projection beyond reality was so proposed,
My senses were compromised, taken to task.
My soul seemed to leave my body, of its whole,
Was floating above my head, then for me to see.
In the darkness, as some dream, to be revealed,
A bright orb of light, within, had been concealed.
As was in another past life, my spirit floated away,
Flew through the open window and onto the lawn.
My body remained put, as I soared in the heights,
Flying all through the heavens, from dark till dawn.
The first thing that I did was to walk on the moon,
The sandy surface was a surprise, each tall dune.
Craters littered the scene, to be most everywhere,
A passing comet, so close gave me quite a scare.
Then as I launched myself upward and so far away,
I then landed on Jupiter, walked there night and day.
Surprised by many moons revolving about in the sky,
Each one looked like a ball of cheese or a lemon pie.
All of a sudden, I streaked toward this new star,
Was not our own sun, but one far, so far away.
Had many planets, with its moons just like ours,
When realizing was a twin, on my mind did play.
Were there doppelgangers throughout the skies,
Every person to have a likeness, not in disguise.
There right before me, this blue earthlike sphere,
I knew in just a moment when I had arrived here.
When there within my eyesight to suddenly appear,
A house was just like mine, identical, to be so dear.
I peeked into a window, there I was in my own bed,
Had to be my twin, of the doppelganger, I had read.
When I got up the nerve to approach myself in bed,
I tripped over a book about the universe I just read.
There on the floor was a banana peel, an old snack,
Why I must have just got turned around, came back.
It just goes to show, you never know about a dream,
Things may turn out a little crazy, not as it may seem.
Sometimes our nightly flights may only be just a wish,
Our mental capacity a projection, ours to accomplish.
