At Peace In The Graveyard
My Mom, My Daughter And Grandson
This Is A True Story
I love my little grandson
He goes everywhere with me
I love being his “Grammy”
He is truly a sight to see
He is always surprising me
He smarter than his age shows
Sometimes I wonder where he gets
The information that he knows
It was one cool spring morning
Just a few short weeks ago
When he did something spectacular
It wasn’t just for show
I took him to the cemetery
To put flowers upon her grave
Jax had never been there before
You wouldn’t believe the show he gave
He went right up to her headstone
One that he had never seen
He put his little arms around it
Kissed it and wiped it clean
Then the wind began to pick up
I watched this suddenly happy little boy
Run around a graveyard
Yelling “I run, I run, I run, I run with Grandma Joy!”
It just about blew my mind
He had only met her just one time
She had died when he was a baby
And she was in her prime
As I tried to leave after awhile
He screamed and yelled and cried
I put him back upon the ground
He ran to my uncle’s graveside
He did the same thing as he did before
He kissed the stone upon the name
He ran around some more
And now the wind was tame
I put him the car seat
This time without any fuss
I knew that this had been a special day
And that my mom had spent it with us!
