The Lonely Traveler
Traveling along a dusty road
With only the clothes on his back
And his memories
No hope left in his soul
No concerns either
He doesn’t care if he leaves this earth
He kicks the dust from his old work boots
And listens to a train in the distance
He sees the tracks up ahead
Walking towards a dark end
The thought relieves his lonely soul
The train is coming closer
He musters up energy to run
Must get to the tracks
He is so tired
When he finally arrives to the tracks
He lies down and rests
Finding peace in knowing it will soon be over
He falls asleep and awakes to find
The train a few miles on a different track
He gets up and dusts himself off
Walking back to the highway
In the hot sun
A car stops and offers him a ride
Where are you going?
The kind gentleman asked
I’m not sure but you can drop me anywhere
On the way to anywhere
He eats a sandwich that was offered in love
And listens to the man’s stories
He starts to feel a glimpse of hope
Something about these stories
Made him feel a peace
The man says, “Well here we are now”
And stops the car
The traveler sees a sign
He couldn’t make out what it said
He got out of the car and read
“Jesus takes your burden and makes it lighter”
Deliverance Meeting at 7 pm
He gets to the meeting early
He looked for the kind man
But nowhere to be found
No one even heard of him
It was strange
His heart begins to move
His heart moved throughout the meeting
Until he was in tears
Saved and delivered from the world’s sin and heaviness
His life was changed and used by God
His ministry became driving on the highway
Looking for lost souls
