A Poem About Liars...Forever Lying

Forever Lying

Lying...

I watch and hear him

with lies neat and trim

Lying...

Like many times before

as he comes in the door

Lying...

About the loss of time

tales turned on a dime

Lying...

about just anything

Did it matter? Everything!

Lying...

My pleas with no success

like he is now...useless.

Lying...

Nothing I could save

follows to the grave

Forever lying....

I really like this poem Victoria! I'm sharing it on facebook! My first ex was a master liar. Some liars even believe their own lies, they are so convinced. Lying is a pet peeve of mine. I detest liars. Cool poem.

Lovely--the theme of lying is reinforced at the end of each stanza, making it very poignant. It has a tragic ring to it, like the person is totally fedup with the lying and nothing is going to make it better. Great work.

I know, Dana. Me, too. Continual lying speaks to the character of the person, and is impossible to look past. How would you know what is the truth?

Great poem Vicki and if you've forgotten who you wrote it for originally that is even greater.

'Lies neat and trim' Hmmm rehearsed and deliberate lies, don't need those types of guys. I had one of those, funny how they seem to think you can't see through them.

I hate a liar! That is one thing I don't forgive easily. I have to confess that I know my fiancé is lying about something that happened before we were together and that is the only reason I am willing to overlook it because I know his reasons for lying but it still irks me.

Victoria, powerful poem! I knew someone like this and he would lie about what he had for dinner. It seems that someone lies about one thing, it just easier and easier to lie about more and more. I'm loving your poems! Voted all the ups but funny.

Good Victoria. It certainly emphasizes the effects of hearing the lie, how the lie changes things, and how one comes to expect nothing but lies questioning everything. And the pangs of knowing someone is a liar. Without getting technical about the subject or even "white lies," the kind a parent might tell to feed a child...I find that if a person can lie about the smaller things, they can lie about the bigger things. Thumbs up.

Victoria, the business of lying is very intricate. My view,

Must be some pressing need to fulfill; most of us lie for this very cause.

Vic! I think its very seldom that we find poor lying guys.. most of'em have a motive of sorts.. I think so! But who knows... some of them are really in a state of despair to lie... I won't say I haven't lied! But I have never got any one into trouble with my lies..... ummmmm!! except for my high school teachers.. hehe!

Your poem made me create an image of a wife troubled by her husband's lies... sometimes cute.. sometimes disturbing... in all a wonderful piece once again!
