A Poem - Turning Points

Updated on December 28, 2016

Pondering Lessons From The Past

Turning Points

Certainly not just two paths, but many.

Life can be a long, or a short stroll.

Sometimes life seems a race to a known finish.

At other times it seems as if it will last forever.

Idyllic moments have images like a video and persist;

Others are terrifying moments when life hung in the balance.

Live long enough and images of loved ones linger.

Friends, family, classmates, co-workers, teammates pass on.

You are here at today's crossroads, four paths.

Only the one marked "Memory" goes back.

Left, right, steady as she goes, all are options;

Options once again, until the next turning point.

"Normal" Life

      Demas, Great concept of naming crossroads, one that goes back as memory. I liked the poetry too.

      Gypsy Rose Lee - I hope that what he meant was that Latvia is so close to St. Petersburg the "it might as well be its suburb." So much is at stake in the world. Let's pray he has good advisors, listens, and chooses the right.

      Your thoughts on options makes me think about how our outcome is based upon our decision. Hopefully, we weigh the consequences before choosing.

      I am not sure who is pulling whose leg. What I do know is that it can be most tragic for Latvia having come so far with such a difficult history to be faced with a U.S. president who has no idea that Latvia is an independent country. Let us hope that someone helps him brush up on both his history and his geography in which he is most lacking. It is always of the utmost importance to be on the winning side.

      Gypsy Rose Lee - The same Happy New Year to you two. I am curious, did Latvians seem at all reassured by the comments of the visiting U. S. Congressmen, after Trump had pronounced Latvia to be a suburb of St. Petersburg? And, why wasn't anyone comparing the Aleppo heroes to the heroes of Stalingrad...perhaps only because the heroes of Stalingrad ended up on the winning side?

      vocalcoach - Nashville, oh what a place to be a vocal coach Did you see my comments on singing with Perry Como? It was no wonder at all to me that his vocal cords gave him such lifelong service. Happy New Year!

      Venkatachari M - Life is a series of choices. Those we make determine our tomorrows, and the memories of yesterdays.
