A Poem about giving up on life.

Updated on May 18, 2014

Contemplation

Do you ever question life and it's purpose?

Do you want to know what it means?

Do you feel your heart is broken?

Coming apart at the seams.

Where do you see your life going?

Will you ever get there?

Or will the obstacles ahead of you,

Overwhelm you with fear?

Do you feel lonely?

And wonder why that is.

Just to answer your own question.

That you are, the cause

of all that has gone wrong.

Your inner strength has left you.

You're defeated and no longer strong.

You feel like an outsider.

You're weak and have no energy.

Alone in life, is where you remain.

Depressed and beaten,

with nothing to gain.

Did you cause these feelings?

Or are others to blame?

Have you ever thought of suicide?

Has it entered your thoughts?

Do you think of the outcome?

How it will make your family distraught.

Cowards are people who lie down and cry.

People who give up and choose to die.

You have to keep going,

a struggle, a must!

For the option to die,

Means to give up

and turn to dust.

Suicide

Why do you think people contemplate suicide or actually commit suicide?

Financially unstable can make one go over the edge and that is sad also depressing in a way. You have created beautiful thought on this way of life. Our precious life deserves more than that.

Suicide is never an option. Suicide means you have lost all hope. Hope is what gives us strength. Hope for our life, hope for our future, Hope that our God is real and that He is faithful to keep His promises.

Thank you DDE, Ann1Az2 and Bk42author, yes there should always be other options and there is help out there. Hope does give us strength and suicide should not be an option. Thank you for reading.

Without hope, what would life be? Nothing to look forward to, no hope for a better tomorrow. I believe that's what happens when a person desires death over life. Powerful message! Tweeting.

Suicide does awful things to those left behind -- for generations to come. Several relatives as well as a friend have committed suicide, and the ramifications are very sad. Keep going. Find a way to reach out.

Thank you always exploring, truthfornow and Flourish for enjoying and understanding the meaning I meant to bring about in this poem. Sometimes people feel that life is so bad and suicide is the answer. Those left behind are the ones who truly suffer. There is always hope before death.

A very thought provoking subject that most people won't touch. No matter how bad life seems, there is always a chance things will improve. With suicide, there is no hope. I know which I would always choose. Well written, voted up.

Thank you for reading Jodah. Suicide is never the answer to one's problems.

Depression can be all consuming, it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it is there, the storm passes and the sun always return to shine it's light. Life is too precious to waste. An interesting and thought provoking poem.

Life is absurd but suicide is definitely not the answer. May those in darkness be enlightened by the message of this thought provoking hub of yours.

Great poem, ending life because it becomes too hard to cope with is a huge issue in this day and age. Life has become almost impossible for those that have had downfalls and can't seem to get back up. My advice on this and it's only because Ive been there many times is, never quit, keep trying even if it seems you can't make it another day. Life will change if you don't give up and not giving up is the hard part. Thank you for writing this wonderful poem!

Thank you THarman for reading. I think we all have had hard times is our life. You are so right, the hard part is not to give up, which is what I was conveying in this hub.
