A SPRING NIGHT...by b. Malin

REMEMBERING...

I'm once again Remembering a Different Time, Come join Me, on this journey.

I was alone that night, so I decided to take a walk with Brandy, my Enormous Furry Wonder Dog. It was a delightful Spring night. The kind that I had visualized in my Dreams and Fantasies...The kind that had sustained my Sanity through the long Winter months.

How quickly one forgets the cold nights, the heavy jackets, and the red runny noses...The quick walks to the end of the block, hoping the dog will take pity and hurry with his business, as you pray for No More Snow.

But tonight is different, it has become Spring! It overpowers me... Like an old Lover...The air is so clean and sweet smelling. I want it to last Forever this moment and my feelings. I feel like a Kid again, all shiny and new. I start to run, my hair blowing ever so slightly about my shoulders.

The Dog senses my Happiness as he runs Happily beside me. Then as if to show "Who's really the Boss"...he runs ahead of me, to wait patiently, panting, down the road by the Duck Pond. I have stopped running for my body is starting to feel sticky. But the air has a bit of a mist in it, which feels so good as it cools my shoulders.

I hug myself as I look up at the night time sky and the Beautiful Shimmering Stars that are shinning down on us ever so brightly. I called to Wonder Dog, who comes running with a Large Stick in his mouth, which he now drops gently at my feet...He knows that I know the routine, he has "Trained" Me well. I pick up his stick and throw it hard as I can. I smile as I watch him race past me to retrieve his new found Treasure.

We now turn onto our block, and my Wonder Dog disappears into some bushes, and comes out minus his stick, which he has safely hidden until tomorrow. "Come on Brandy" I yell, "I'll race you to the house". And we do, as the sounds and mysteries of the Spring Night, Sing their Happy Song.

i wonder if you needed as much preamble as you did and whether a few more descriptives, sights and aromas might have strengthened this piece. It was a nice little write.

I love the first stirrings of spring. I am transported back to my bedroom when I was a teenager. The window is open, the curtains are blowing and life is filled with luscious possibilities. Voted up, awesome and beautiful.

i know you have your style. i rather like it as a break from mine. i just would like to be able to get a little further inside your mind as it were with the substance of how you sense things when you are ruminating in the moment.

I so appreciated your comment, that I was "Magical" Bbnix,...as well as your other thoughts...As writers and Poets it's music to our Ears when our Poems and thoughts are appreciated.

I'm not sure I'm always writing from inside my mind...Nothing is ever really planned, I just go with my thoughts at that moment, unless it's an older piece that I want to up date...I also enjoy your Poems, and yes, we are very different in our styles Jaggedfrost.

That's what I love about you Arb, your Humor!...and I feel honored that you liked this Poem and what it said to you.

You've captured the joy of Wonder Dog forever here (may he rest in peace) and in our hearts. Spring really is a time of renewal and life. I found myself looking at pictures of my own furry Dolly today and remembering her joy. She had me trained quite well. Warm thoughts your way. xx Peg
