A Thorn of Penitence: A Poem about Redemption
i spoke with my soul this morning
as I was pulling weeds
thick and thorny,
troubling concept really
that one undetected
could fathom
so much.
a bramble
scratched
a sin escaped,
the usual wadding
tamping it away
must have been missing.
a single sin
identified as indifference,
only that,
and in its absence
I felt lighter,
reprieved
by a thorn of penitence.
