A Vignette of Imagination: A Porch for Angel Watching

Updated on December 16, 2010

A Porch for Angel Watching

Her long dark hair trails behind her as she kicks her feet towards the sky, swinging higher and higher.  Her miniature boots fly across the yard.  A tomboy down to her bones, only 4 years old and hating dresses and bows in her hair.  It was enough to break her mother’s heart.  Her skinned knees and tangled hair only made him love her more.  He didn’t need a son to teach football too, she loved it as much as he did.  A little girl taking after his own heart, who would have thought?  He rocked on the creaky back porch wondering how he could be so lucky.  That little girl’s laugh could make any Scrooge walk a little lighter.

She looked just like her momma, beautiful.  Their silky hair and bright blue eyes brightened every one of his days.  Never could he have imagined his life as great as it was at that moment.  He, a daddy to a pretty little sports lovin’ tomboy, and a husband to the most beautiful woman in the world.  A perfect day to sit on the porch and enjoy the pleasant moments watching his angels dazzle the scenery.
