A poem, She loved the color of lavender

Updated on May 20, 2012
always exploring profile image

I am a writer of poetry and fiction. I especially love flash fiction. My name is Ruby, and I live in Southern Illinois. I am a retired R.N.

Source

A picture collage echoes her love for her husband and family

She loved the color of lavender

I always knew

Just what to get her

A blouse, a coat, a skirt, even a purple straw hat

She would always smile and say,

" Oh you didn't need to buy that "

She was my childhood soulmate, my Sister Virgie whom we laid to rest yesterday

All of her loved one's were there

Those near and far away

A picture collage echoed her love for her husband and family

Her wedding day, the birth of a child, merry Christmas times

All smiling happily

My main focus, she is free, free of pain that was uncontrollable, finally peace and rest

The minister spoke eloquently concerning her life

Stating that she had done her very best

He spoke about a transition of peaceful sleep

His message I hold dear

And will forever keep

Locked within my heart until we meet again

My soulmate Virgie

My best childhood friend....RIP Sis.

Hi Ruby! It was so nice to see you at the funeral and to learn more about my grandma's sister who I remember from when I was a child but who I have not had the privilege of truly knowing when I am an adult! It was so nice to learn about you. To hear about your life! To remember stories of my grandma! The funeral was nice! I too think of her as being Free! Lavender was her favorite color - the picture board was such a nice reminder of this! We will miss her a lot and know that she is free and in a beautiful place. It was nice to remember and spend time with my family! I feel especially at peace in that cemetery where so many of my family live! xoxo

      So Sorry Always,

there are times that we keep a fast pace in our schedule, but came back to get a surprissing read and sadly, your soulmate is gone to join our maker. The more we see life as a second of time for our creator, the better we appreciate it. This really moved me to tears... We as writers have a different spirit and we attempt to lay it down in our own creativity. Thanks for sharing a very important part of you in this hub.
