A Poem, You Are My Valentine
Love is 'gonna' live here again
I felt a flutter and a little risque'
I know without a doubt I don't tell you nearly enough
That without you I'd still be living in the past
And still be talking that old sob stuff
My day's of loneliness, my day's of despair
My daily feelings
Of, " I don't care
About tomorrow or whatever may be
Won't fill this void
His hurt left in me"
You only smiled when I said, " I will never love again "
You stayed around
My dear sweet friend
Then one day I miraculously found I wasn't crying so much
I actually enjoyed
The feeling of your gentle touch
You were so kind, You were so sweet
But still I was careful
I stood firm on my feet
Slowly I began to forget the deceit
I'd known in the past
You never gave up assuring me it was a memory that wouldn't last
You said, " Let it go, it's long past. "
Then one day when I saw you drive into my driveway
I felt a flutter
And a little risque'
I've learned you have a heart of pure gold
Someone whose arms hold me
And keep me in a protective fold
Dare I say, " I love you? It's gonna take me awhile
But in between time
I can't get rid of this continuous smile.
Happy Valentine Day Thomas.
