There's a light at the end of the tunnel

Updated on February 24, 2014

The tunnel

A light at the end of the tunnel

There's a light at the end of the tunnel.

I took out my flashlight to see.

It was so dark ahead,

I shined it in front of me.

Keep Walking

As I walked into the tunnel

I was very afraid.

It was hard to walk in the dark

I kept falling along the way.

The tunnel is too dark

Something's holding me back

I felt at times I couldn't walk.

As though a force had its grip on me,

it wouldn't let me go,

it's grip was so tight I couldn't flee.

The struggle

Maybe it was my fear,

of what lies ahead.

Could I really escape this feeling

of anxiety and dread.

The light

I fought the urge to turn around,

and proceeded on my way.

I approached the end of the tunnel,

and realized I was okay.

The end of the tunnel

The light was so surreal,

the closer I got I felt pleased.

I had no more anxiety.

My emotions felt at ease.

Happiness

Easy fix: Your line - "and preceded on my way" (proceeded?). Good write.

Thank you all for stopping by to read my new hub. I feel that sometimes we are stuck in that dark tunnel and can't find our way out. It takes strong will power to do so.

beautiful job breaking down each emotion as the poem suggests to free yourself of the dark place that the exists. We all need to keep in mind that with every rainy day a flower blossoms, with every slip and fall you shall stand again and as your poem suggests , at the end of every tunnel there is light. I love you mother good work.

Thank you son. It truly is the family bond and emotional support that inspires me to write. Writing is my passion and my family is my life. Love you too.

Almost there: "proceeded" is the correct spelling.

Absolutely beautiful...I loathe tunnels, the feeling of entrapment, so I just loved the ending and the awesome picture of the sky. Very inspiring and encouraging - especially your bravery of proceeding on your way.

Voted up and awesome. Blessings, Sparklea :)
