Above it all - A brief poem

Updated on July 20, 2012

Above it all

Take a seat

And hang on tight

Settle in now

and enjoy the flight

Soar higher and higher

Way above the yonder

Among the clouds'

Soft tops we'll wander

Free from Earth

And from all her woes

Far above it all

And free from foes

Up and Up we go

And aloft we'll wing

Thank you Daddy

We love our swing

Will, 2014 was not g good year for me. A man ran a stop-sign and totaled my car. I was under the doctor's care all this time. I also traveled to LAX to my 1st cousin's funeral. He fought 2 rare types of leukemia for 3 years. I spoke to him a few days before he passed. He was a lot younger than myself. We should never give up to tragic illness or other misfortunes. I spent July in Atlanta, and as usual it's a beautiful city. The economy is booming! I will probably go again when it gets cold, and do some writing.

I enjoy your poem! We all need to dream more AND LEARN THE SIMPLE

things to enjoy. Life is not recallable and we need to focus on our happiness. Some people never seem to learn! You have had a lot of bad weather this year, I pray for your safety and the people in AZ. Keep writing!

WillStarr, as I continued reading these simple yet very beautiful lines, I thought this poem to be about a airplane- flight until I stumbled upon the last line that ended all suspense. My mind came down from the clouds and fell on a lovely swing. I was so mad of those swings in my childhood. You reminded those very sweet and carefree days ! Loved reading this beautiful poem. Voted up. Thank you. :-)

Will, I only just saw this because vocal coach commented on it. I love this , it's my type of poem. I wish I had written it for my micro-poem series. The little twist at the end fits in perfectly. You aren't just a writer of great western fiction, you are a poet as well. Voted up.
