Addictive Behavior, a Poem by Christopher Moises Torres "De La Soul Child"
Addictive Behavior
Addictive Behavior
I came to the point where I love you,
Obsessed about the thought of losing you to
someone else,
So I’ve taken the next step to control you,
I need you,
Don’t you?
Needless to say in my drunken wine voice, “Duh Yuh?”
I will not enable your behavior anymore.
And those were the last words said
as the last drink was chugged with no care.
Until the morning arises, so did the sober thoughts
of guilt.
Left alone with one drink in the fridge
and no one around to endure it with,
except for the voices in the head.
“Addictive Behavior is a poem written to continue to spread awareness of addiction and how addiction can break your relationships with your significant other, family member, friends. In fact, almost anything in your life can and will become broken when your addiction starts to take over your day-to-day life. Hiding from the world through drugs is never the answer."
