After The Fire

Updated on February 21, 2016

After The Fire

What did I do to you
Your smile no longer in your eyes
What did I do to you
The truth replaced by empty lies

What did you do to me
My heart aches with guilty regret
What did you do to me
I cant remember I only can forget

Why do we hold on
Others surely would've let it go
Why do we hold on
Truths we don't speak but we both know

What happens next
As we dance around each other
What happens next
Will you just tell me that it's over

We started out as friends
In darkness, we became each other's sun
We started out as friends
If we end it now, leave it as we had begun

The love is gone
Two hearts empty of desire
The love is gone
Only ashes remain from our fire

Great poem!. The love is gone ...only ashes ...you said it yourself. What's to do? Alas! Happy New Year, Luna.

So sad when love leaves only ashes and a smoldering fire behind. Nicely penned.
