All In A Days Work

Updated on July 21, 2012

If You Could See Yourself

Where my body becomes slave to it's new master

My mind has been chained not to think no more

You will tell me what has to be done and when

Working as I do to please you

You are always unsatisfied and at unrest

Pushing me through every test

Trying as it may be

Watching my blood spill

Faster,faster you better move faster

You have to do better than that

Demanding more and reassuring me this is the only way

You listen to me

The sooner the past is forgotten the better life will be

Like dirt down the drain

Never to return again

You are so much a better worker because of it

Learning what I have to just to survive

Watching other workers go about their day as if they were all pins in a pattern

Each doing what they have to do and serving a greater purpose

As the bosses favorites are untouched and protected secretly

Because they are either informers or past bosses who couldn't cut it

Kissing up to the bosses special needs

The hours tick and you quickly shout

Making it clear for the millionth time

Who is the boss and who is not

Your break is over and you should of been back minutes ago

Now I willl ride you with a vengence

For your job is far from over

Listen to me for you will never be free

raciniwa It is not a question of doing a good job and being proud of your work.Everyone wants to go through the motion and they are so self absorbed in their own world where they fantasize about being better than everyone else and are only delusional at best. Times have changed.Where is your self respect and pride?Leaving coworkers helpless when you could offer help. The new workers of today turn away and find busy work but don't want to be bothered.Team work is an old value that has disappeared with friendships and bonds that made work fun and not just a job.Thanx so much for reading.

kj force Yes I agree with you that work has changed over the years.I am also not happy with all the changes. But if we look hard I am sure we can find the good. Then we take the good changes and expand on them and make them better. The bad changes over time will fade and become less and less a pain.If we only focus on the bad we can never enjoy the good.I think you have hit the nail on the head. When we escape to our dreams and want more that is the start of a whole new beginning. If we stay with it and find others like ourselves we gain momentum and progress. That is how changes are made.If we just talk and don't do anything then we accept what we do not want.Like a waiter bringing us a bad meal.It is time for a change.Lets do it now.Come and make it happen today.Thanx so much and lets move forward and beyond.

shiningirisheyes I always thought work was a place that you could reach as high as you wanted to go..If you applied yourself more the rewards would be greater. In todays world certain jobs have limitations that know matter how well you do your job you have reached the top.Others who are less skilled and less years of dedication are more recognized and appreciated because they make less money. The bottom line for certain companies is money not quality or pride.Thanx so much and we can always think of new ways to expand are horizons where the potential is unlmited.Writing is one of those ways.Enjoy your day.

Creative way to come at this subject. I relate so well to being a slave to my brain as well as my work. Its a vicious circle.

kennynext I think we have to make our best choices and work through them to see if they pan out over time.Shara63 I hope not.But if we can warn others of the few then we can also enjoy the great companies that help their employees achieve their life goals.I would like to take this time to thank all the workers who put in their best effort each and every time to make so many companies a great success. They really are the backbone and make or break any company.Thanx for reading and have a great day.

Lucky Cats Work can be so beneficial and rewarding for both the worker and management. If only they work on a unified goals. Each working to their best potential and getting the proper respect and recognition for doing so.When work becomes just a place to do a job that is asked and neither pride or value is put forth the results are much different. There is no respect that is earned not bought.Thanx so much for reading and I would love to see a hub by you on what a good working environment might be for a worker at a job well done.Have a great day.

Hello Dream On...well, I imagine many do work under these conditions; live under these conditions. Sometimes, I think about being fortunate, in that, I have not had to endure this type of abuse...emotional, physical, psychological...I think: "there but for fortune...." How we are able to demean others; those among us who are positioned in authoratative roles..... particularly those who wield power and influence over others....and use this to their personal advantage while lording over another...a "peon," a "less than" human being. Some really do regard others in this way...I have never liked nor have I used the term "boss," as I believe it is derogatory, indicates superior/inferior stations in life and is an antiquated term. Your descriptive words speak to this and more. voted UP Useful, Interesting and Awesome.....perhaps 'beautiful,' too because you see this for what it is.
