All That Was

Updated on February 22, 2016

All That Was

In a moment, just a second
All that spins and turns just stops
A universal pause is granted
For all that what was and now is not

Light and airy laughter
Bubbling from our hearts
A home filled with conversations
Our family not yet torn apart

Tomorrow was uncertain
Yet it was nothing to be feared
Youthful ignorance was plenty
Pillows not yet stained in secret tears

Our hearts were free and light
Not yet heavy with sorrow and despair
Now we carry all that is not with us
And all that was, it’s no longer there.

Thank you both for your feedback, it has made my day! I've never shared like this before and was so nervous to do so, thank you for making this such a wonderfully positive experience for me so far :)

What a beautiful and heartfelt poem. I agree with Jodah, it flows so well.

I love the first two lines, "In a moment, just a second/All that spins and turns just stops." So, true. It only takes a moment for life to change irreversibly. So astute.
