Alive- A dark poem about living through something that changes you forever

Updated on March 2, 2013

Title: Alive

I just can't seem to hide
The past a collage of broken thoughts
Cause I can't make up my mind
And this hate is getting thick
Twist my words to fit your venue
Cause it seems I'm just not me anymore
For every moment I hoped for
I take it back just so I can survive

I'm unwanted; I'm disdained
I'm the future bathed in pain
I'm the rented piece of skin
I'm raw emotion at the brim
A laugh that hides 1000 lies
Sealed shut by heartless eyes

Cause no matter what I say
I can't look at myself the same
Too much to take in; too much to say
Shattered more and more each day
A false salute; a broken prayer
A wish to have someone there

A patch to hide the countless scars
Cause while each may tell a story
I seem to forget what it is to be alive
