Ambition – What is Ambition? 32nd Good Word of the Good Word Project

Updated on October 14, 2016

Ambition - 32nd word in the "Good Words" project,

Jo Grace Goldsmith originally created the "Good Words" project with the purpose of inspiring our fellow Hubbers to become the best author, poets and writers we could be.

For every good word that Jo gave us weekly, I had promised to write a poem for each one. Ambition was the 32nd word in the project.

Jo became disheartened by HP and 5 weeks ago took down all her hubs but kept her account so that she can read the stories of the Hubbers that she mentored with the Good Words project.

Grace if you are reading this please let us know that you are okay.

Ambition is desire

An inspiration to succeed

The drive to become

Better than you can be

Ambition is determination

To work to reach your goals

With desire and inspiration

To reach heights untold

Ambition is the fortitude

To keep on plodding along

When things seem to go all wrong

And you just keep-on-keeping-on

Ambition is the drive

a determination to keep you goals alive

But, ambition without humility is greed

When we see only what we want

And lose sight of things we really need

Are you ambitious?

Do you really try?

See results

Au fait, thank you for the comment and well wishes.

I know it is hard to be ambitious with so many obstacles thrown in the way and when facing problems of this world which makes all seem hopeless.

      Blessings and hugs dear friend.

I need to find some. Ambition that is. No telling what might be accomplished with a bit of ambition, but without any, not much is likely to change.

Hope you and John and puppy are doing well. Blessings to all . . .

Another lovely and inspiring poem! It is the first thing I saw when I awoke this afternoon. And so life is truly a room full of mirrors. You were inspired and then in turn I was inspired by you. Than you!

Au fait, thank you for the comments.

Writing to me isn't about the money, with the low hubber score I feel like we are being judged by people who may not like one style and give that author a low score. We do not all appreciate the same style, but that does not mean it is not quality.

The soap oozed out and I am going to slip off my soap box.

Blessings and hugs and Happy Thanksgiving

Ambition. Think my get up and go got up and left. Just can't persuade myself to write lately. With the hubber score so low and now they're telling everyone how many of our hubs are failures. Do they want us to delete them now?

Do you know I can sometimes make more money doing surveys? I know when we mention anything about our hubber score, etc., a few people on here try to make us feel guilty for writing to make money, like that's something horrible. They're usually the same people who whine about food stamps and public assistance programs. Can't please some people no matter what you do.

HP should be able to read the comments on your question about hubber score and see how many other hubbers equate a low hubber score with poor performance. They just parrot over and over again to write quality hubs and eventually the hubber score will come up. Hasn't yet.

      Sharing.

Hope all is well with both of you. Take care . . .

Au fait, thank you for the comments and all that you do, my dear friend.

I can't wait to read your next piece.

We are trying really hard, John has so many appointments this month. I have to carry a calendar everywhere we go to keep track.

I was going to call you yesterday then something came up and I did not get the chance. Today will go quickly, starting right now.

Blessings and Hugs dear friend, try to stay cool.

Don't ever think that I have forgotten you, I will call as soon as time permits.

Did a lot of work on that article I've been telling you about. Think I made some progress. Still a ways to go and then I have to get it organized so all the info makes sense. Right now it's piecemeal. I've never done an article this way before; one part here, one part there, and then combined all the parts into one piece.

Hope you are taking care of yourselves. The humidity was at least pretty low, but it's still too hot. Hope everything is going well, whatever you may be working on. Take care . . .

Anyway, the word ambition caught my eye because I seem to have found a tiny bit of it today. Sharing.

Hello Shyron, I liked this one because I have always had ambition. When the fire in my belly feels low I just take a break and rest until it is burning high and bright again! :-) I voted this up, shared and pinned it.

"...ambition without humility is greed." Excellent! And for how long now I am trying to define greed.

Beautiful, thought-provoking and poetic explanation of ambition. Thank you, Shyron :)

I guess the difference between ambition and greed is in what one is striving to accomplish. If one is merely trying to make lots of money and acquire lots of 'things,' then one might be seen as greedy. If one is striving to discover or develop a cure for cancer or a way to prevent birth defects in newborns, then one is not considered greedy, but humanitarian.

Well written. Voted up and BAI, pinned to AH, and will share.

Bill, thank you for your kind words. Sorry it took so long to get back here to answer comments. I was helping my hubby pour concrete and fighting a developer who wants to change the zoning in front of my home.
