An Eye for an Eye

Updated on May 24, 2010

I sat down and watched her as she ate her food, she looked so beautiful and my heart kept skipping its beat,to me that was an Angel at the other table.

I saw an Angel heart in her face but there was something about her,the way she held her spoon and the smile on her face each time she got it closer to her mouth then i realized that she was blind.

How can this be?

I mean where is God, how can a beauty like her be blind,i kept asking myself this question and forgot to even eat my own food,i felt sympathy for this young lady,a stranger i just saw in a restaurant. The more i glanced at her, the more i felt inside me that i have to know more of her.She was so beautiful so as she got up to leave the restaurant,i realized that she had a dog,a dog that walked her everyday.

There was something that hit my heart as i walked up to her and offered to lead her, we both had the same kind of Jacket on.Holding her hand was like holding a Diamond and from that moment i knew that i will never let go.

"Loveline" she said is her name

Loveline is a blind Angel, she was the most beautiful woman i have ever seen, she is lovely and has a lovely name too, we became friends and i took it up as my daily duty to lead her wherever she goes though so many people especially my own mother were surprise at my gesture towards this blind stranger but to me she was a friend, though incapacitated but to me, she could do anything.I have not seen a blind type before but Loveline is the best and fastest typist i have ever seen.

Two years of friendship with a blind girl who has no one but me was a blessing from God,she could not see me but she once told me that my smiles are pure though no one supported me when i declared to make her my wife.Loveline to me is a Dove in a cage and needed freedom so proposing to her was my only choice,i know that i can't live without her and i alone knows what i am feeling so i wasn't surprise when no one even her own mother failed to understand the need for us to be married.

I need to paint her love because if all the leaders and everyone in the world could have a heart like hers, there will be no more war.Balancing my daily activities and taking care of my blind wife wasn't an easy task but like every other couple, there must be compromise so the arrival of our Daughter Naomi sealed my promise to be there for Loveline until death do us part.

Some believed that our union will not last but honestly,we never argued on anything,we loved each other and i was always there for my wife though we had couple of good friends who was always there for us so the entire twenty years we so far shared was full of grace, love and harmony.Peter and Paul were the juice of our union, our twin boys and the auto of our home.

What i shared with my wife Loveline could best be described as an unconditional love,a true love that knows no trick, lie or pain, she is as sweet as her name and we did everything together,we attended every function together.

I don't know what i would have done without Loveline, she was the most interesting part of my life so when she took up the stage to address the crowd on a day that was the most important day of our lives after all we have overcame together and simply moving in the right direction, she said for the first time ever since i met her.

"If only i could see the world"

No one was able to hold down tears,my wife had never told me about her wish to see,she had never complained about her blindness so we never discussed about the possibility of restoring her sight, she was blind from birth.

Loveline sang to the amazement of all our guest...

"From the day i met you

To this day my love

I have never seen a king

You are the hero i know

I have never felt crazy in my life

Maybe it is the joy of motherhood

Or the restoration of sunset

But it is the freedom of a dove

Baby please paint my love"

There is nothing i would not do for my wife, she is my home and the only place i know so when we finally met Dr Khan at the eye foundation and all the result conducted on her showed that her sight could be restored.

We only needed a donor, just an eye for an eye so i knelt down and thanked God for giving me two eyes.

The operation which lasted for eight hours was the turning point in our marriage,i stood in front of her and watched her as she laid peaceful on the hospital bed but as she opened her eyes and saw me though i had a dark eye glass on, though i didn't smiled nor uttered a word, she knew that it was me and called me by my name.

She stretched her hand towards me,looked around the room and saw the faces of everyone who has played a role in her life,we all saw the joy in her and the silent in the room could allow you hear a pin drop then suddenly Peter our son broke the peace with a song which we all joined along.

"From my youngest years

Till this moment here

I have never seen such a lovely queen"

That is my wife's favorite song, paint my love by Michale Learns to rock...

"There is nothing like coming home to a place you know so there is nothing like having a pair of your eyes while you have a pair of mine,my wife, my everything, since you came into my life, the days before all fade to black and white and everything has changed right now because you could see the world and i am glad i finally painted your love".
