An open letter of thanks to The Dallas Morning News

Updated on April 22, 2017

Choosing to take a stand for what is right!

This is an open letter to The Dallas Morning News to thank them for standing up for truth and the majority of the American people in the 2016 Presidential Election, and I for one am very grateful.

For almost twenty two years my husband and I have subscribed to your newspaper and this is one year I am proud to say “Thank you for standing up for me and for the people of our great country. Your endorsement in this election brought tears of pride to my eyes.

When the lies begin to grow.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” – Joseph Goebbels

Watching lies grow into big lies.

For more than thirty five years I have followed the political news …. And watched as innocent people were maligned, scorned and blamed for things they had nothing to do with or had no control over.

I watched as the lies about Hillary Clinton grew by leaps and bounds. I thought about the saying “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”

Absolute Power

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely” – John Dalberg-Acton, son of Sir Ferdinand Dalberg-Acton and grandson of Sir Ferdinand Dalberg-Acton

Who are the members of the Electoral College? And who appoints those members

I watched as Susan McDougal was imprisoned because she would not lie for the benefit of the crew that now has total power/control over our country, unless the Electoral College votes for what is right on December 19th, but please remember who chooses the members of the Electoral College.

With that I am reminded of the old saying “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely” but, wait! Who of the current regime is uncorrupt?

I wish I had the resources to research the lies and debunk them, and expose their source.

What happened this election cycle?

Have people become so callous, that they would ignore the women who were victimized by a man while at the same time blame a woman for the indiscretions of her husband?

How do we right the wrongs that have been perpetrated by this man and the Conservative’s Electoral College? The only truth that Candidate Trump spoke was when he said this system is rigged.

I am asking that you continue to be the voice for Democracy and the American people. You have the resources to decry the lies and hypocrisy, and lay the truth bare for all to see.

"We do indeed live in interesting times."

The New President Elect

© by Shyron Shenko

Romney said Trump was unfit to be our President

Then the hypocrite was one of the first to fall in line

Vying for the chance to kiss Trump’s behind

But, good ole-boy Rudy stuck his nose in first

So…Romney is really in a bind

There’s not a space between Rudy and Nikki that he can find

Putin is bragging, said he brought the Donald luck

With all the false ads that he posted on face-book

The lies that were propagated

And spun like threads of gold

Lies are exciting when they are sold

For the truth is boring when it’s told

When truth is at a crawl

When the lies goes speeding by

That’s when Justice stalls

That’s when our democracy dies

The others swoop in like vultures on the carcass of our dying liberty

Hello Jo, thank you for the comment. Yes I live in one of the reddest of the red states, (red hot) and I feel that my voting is futile, but it really would become so if I and others like myself did not vote.

We can hang in there together.

      Blessings and hugs.

I call my part of the country here in rural Tennessee not just red but blood red. Overwhelming Trump country. I imagine Texas must be much the same. Nevertheless, most of the people I am close to and associate with are not Trump supporters.

      Hang in there!

All I can say is that I hope we can find a way to come together and that God will touch his heart and lead him so that he can lead us in an effective manner.

Angels are on the way to you this morning ps

Dennis, thank you so much for the comment, I really appreciate you.

Yes the results of the election are not only sad, with so many people hurting from the lies and twisted half truths and he, trump did not win the election, and the greedy will sell their souls and jump on the scam bandwagon from their own greed.

What a shame this can happen and people ignore the evil to get their own power at the expense of the American people.

Thank you again Dennis for reading this and leaving a comment.

This was an excellent post and I'm glad you wrote it. The majority of Americans do not support "Teflon Don" as the president-elect. Apparently family and this country's values are things of the past. To quote Donald, "This is sad...so sad."

Shauna, thank you for the comment. I too was shocked at both the current election and the Anthony murder of that precious little girl, I don't think anybody gets that one.

      Blessings and hugs my friend

I was shocked at the outcome of this election. Just as shocked as when Casey Anthony was found not guilty of killing her little girl.

      I don't get it.

Grace, I am so happy to see you back, I really missed you.

We do live in the most interesting times.

When I read this I thought of the song "Bird of Paradise" it goes

May the bird of paradise fly up your nose, may an elephant caress you with it's toes

May your life be plagued with runners in your hose.

I too voted for Hillary, but it is not fair that our votes do not count.

Russia has help, with trump and Rex Tillerson.

I do hope you are well.

Blessings and hugs my dear friend.

I really enjoyed reading this. The worst Chinese curse is:

"May you live in the most interesting times".

I am working on getting back into the writing thing.

Hub Pages seems to have changed so much (again)

So glad to see that you are still here and so is your exceptional work!

I voted for Hillary by the way. And I live in a red state too.

Don't get it, wish I could wake up from this nightmare of Russia trying to take over.

Oh Dear Martie, I like your suggestion to appoint a commission of inquiry. You know a lot more than you give yourself credit for. I wish I knew how to go about requesting such an inquiry in this red state, that still does not have the Gerrymandered districts straightened out . I have read and reread Au fait's hub on the Electors of the Electoral College and how and who chooses them.

I hope all is well with you and your beautiful country.

Thank you so much for you visit and comment.

      Blessings my friend.

Au fait, thank you my dear friend, I appreciate you.

I hope that all is well with you, we are doing what we can to stay as well as possible.

I guess our vote still does not count here in this red state.

l had not heard the reference to trump running for President interview. So will research it first, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Thank you again for the comment

      Blessings and hugs dear friend.

I am still not over the shock. How was it possible for Trump to win when Hillary got 2.5 million more actual votes? Perhaps he had bribed the members of the Electoral College? Who were/are they? Somebody has to appoint a commission of inquiry. Or what do I know about the USA' election policies?

Your poem is very entertaining and so to the point!

Much as I hate when people accuse candidates from the opposing party of being another Hitler, and both parties do it, I have to bring up the man's name here. Not to accuse any Democrat or Republican of being another Hitler, but in reference to lies. In fact it was Hitler who determined that telling a lie often enough will cause it to be accepted by the majority of people as the truth. According to Hitler, the bigger the lie and the more oft it is repeated, the more gullible people will be, and greedily swallow that lie, hook, line, and sinker.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_lie

Very interesting how many conservatives endorsed Hillary for president, and she did get 2.5 million more actual votes than Trump. However Trump has proven still again that most people prefer lies, and so he especially, loud and long, promoted lies along with members of his new Party. Of course Republicans lie as a matter of policy no matter what.

You may find the following statements by The Donald of interest:

“If I were to run, I’d run as a Republican. They’re the dumbest group of voters in the country. They love anything on Fox News. I could lie and they’d still eat it up. I bet my numbers would be terrific,” said Donald Trump to a People Magazine interviewer back in 1998.

I think Republicans are about to discover they've been hornswaggled, but I still worry because Republicans have control of every branch of government. I think even Trump underestimates how difficult it will be to stand up to them when they go too far, which is most of the time. I wonder if he has his veto pen ready.

Hope all is well. Take care . . .

Mike, thank you so much for the comment, I do appreciate you. I do agree with Flourish and the rest of my friends. I don't know how this is going to play out but it does not look good for anyone but the rich and greedy.

Hello Shyron - I kind of agree with FlourishAnyway, it is tough to believe that he actually won. With predictions in the high 80's and low 90's of the unlikelihood that possibility.

We the people have not changed.

Ruby, my gem of a friend. Romney tried to pull something like this when he was "the candidate" which I wrote about how he did that and the Romney family owns the voting machine company in my "Did your vote count?" I know that my vote does not count here in Texas.

      Bill, thanks for the comment.

I fear that voter apathy will win, just like my local election, only 10% of the registered voters voted, sad but true.

      Bless you my friend.

Yes he sure is illegitimate, and I do not believe he won either, and he said himself the voter system is rigged.

Blessings and Hugs my dear friend.

I have a feeling when the recounting process is complete, Hillary will win. Whether she will be able to take the white house is not clear. Trump said that the election was rigged and I guess it was. It wouldn't be difficult for hackers to invade the voting machines. There is a reason why Putin wanted Trump to win so badly. I have talked to very few people who voted for Trump. Him winning all but fourteen states is unbelievable.
