And It Should - A Poem By Frankie Di'Incendio

Updated on February 7, 2013

This is going to hurt.

She knows this. She opened a fortune.

Smile it will make the world brighter.

This is going to hurt. she opens a fortune.

There is great friendship between you.

This is going to hurt.

She keeps writing it anyway

A proclamation of her unheard love

Locked away behind the ghosts of yesterday.

She does not let go

this hurts she thinks.

Tears slide like the sweet caress of treasured places full of warm moisture.

Slipping. This will hurt

Her body urges her to reconsider

the fragility of human weakness

a virginal temple of late

This hurts

there it aches.

Move on.

This will hurt

She knows it

Never one to fret over scars

she frets now

This is going to hurt she thinks.

Drives to post office

sends letter.

Home she sits

no response

from her dark knight

This is going to hurt

Move on the world tells her through the gnawing gaze of admiring faces.

Paid for dinners

sickening thoughts of romance.

They want to kiss her.

They want her to let them adore her.

They call her.

She refuses to see their eyes.

Looking down,

standing tall.

This is going to hurt,

she thinks

She bathes in perfumed water anyway.

She shaves her legs anyway.

Clears Eve’s way.

This is going to hurt she thinks

So she applies her favorite lipstick.

Moved by perfect heart shapes.

She does her nails anyway.

She wore that dress anyway.

This is going to hurt.

She turns off those thoughts.

Remembering the sweet lips

of razor blades.

She hopes its ache is deep.

Raw. Powerful.

Full of memories.

She thinks,

this is going to hurt.

It's very difficult to let go of someone. I know how she felt. Empty, hollow, unable to feel anything, and this feeling always ends in death. Not always a mortal death, but always the death of what loved so deeply inside a person.

Wow, this is beautiful and your usual standard of emotional intensity and edgy subject matter. Images like lips like razor blades is unnerving, but then some things just have to be read. Your words are like a candle flame you wanna flit your finger over it just to sense the heat there.

Yes it certainly can. This was to me about letting go of one of my first heartbreaks of that heartache and standing up to do it again.. as love is in my opinion - the greatest gift from the universe we get to experience.

Love can hurt like nothing else can and there are those that wait for a lifetime.
