Another Stump To Grind
Just When I Thought I Was Done
When we clear away a spot of land of brush and old rotted trees
It is hard work for sure
Digging and turning over the soil to uncover the rich earth
We can easily find so many things hidden
Those vines that run deep that seem to go on for miles
Like they stretch way down to mother earth clinging on to anything they can
The rocks that have been buried for thousands of years
Someone elses belongings that sit and wait to be discovered
Buried beneath a little dirty but still intact
Fossil remains of an animal lifted up in the light and carefully observed
Piles and piles of clay mixed with sand
Should we give up and burry the hole we just started
This is where I do one shovel full at a time
Getting much needed exercise and testing my brain
Let my imagination run wild and free
Show me one more thing
I will tell you a funny story that goes with it
Using my vocabulary in a useful manner
Then relaxing even though we are not finished
Only to catch a quick breath and back to work again
Digging much deeper than before
To recreate a world that has long since passed
A tribute to all those who don't get what they want
But are willing to do what it takes and make everything they do matter
