As the Sun Comes Up - a Poem

Almost 3 1/2 decades after writing this poem, I discovered it was myself I needed to love. Once strong with myself, I cut my waist length hair. It took Bravewarrior to conquer! I've since let it grow again. Whew!!

Oh, the stars I had in my eyes when I was 19!

As the sun comes up

And brings us a new day,

A smile appears

On my face

Because

I know as each new day

Is born

So is my love for you.

That was awesome and very unselfish of your daughter to cut her hair and donate it, Linda. I'm working on growing mine long again. It's a couple of inches below my shoulders now.

Thanks for the visit and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you, Nell. I hated that hair cut! It was basically a dare I placed on myself to see if I could "put my face out there".

Love the short haircut! I happened to read a quote today by Coco Chanel - "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life." I sent the quote to my daughter who cut off 12 inches of her hair to donate it.

I know your photo is from a few years ago, I am just sharing a story. :)

      Fabulous poem!

Paula, I hated that hair cut! My hair is now several shades of gray and silver and falls a few inches below my shoulders. I'd like to grow it long again as long as it doesn't make me look old.

I'm surprised (and thrilled) of the recent traffic this poem is getting. Very cool.

Thanks for your kind words, my friend. I love you too!

I've found a poem of yours, posted 4 yrs ago? Well, I'm here to make 2 points, girlfriend.

First....I never met a 19 yr.old woman who didn't have stars in her eyes....never. In fact, at that age, our entire world is made of stars & flowers & butterflies....and that is how it should be. The simple course of nature.

But the hair cut!! I love Love, LOVE it!! I cannot believe how very different you look...so peppy and cute and bright-eyed & INNOCENT! It had to take an awful lot of courage to go from waist length to short, short....but honestly Sha, you look like a bouncing teenager. I seriously love it! Oh and you too, of course. Paula

Passion fruit/greek yogurt cheesecake? That sounds delicious! Forget the pepper steak. How 'bout we just have the wine and cheesecake?!

.....are you setting a place for me at your table? I will wash up after dinner and bring over the red wine and the passion fruit/greek yogurt cheesecake I just bought ......back home after my road trip and relaxing with the Modern Jazz Quartet and a nice cuppa mint green tea

Yes it's funny that old line - I thought I was already following you, lol.

I just came out of the lake and I was the only one in - it looks like an ocean with high waves but the water is warmer than the air now and it was so refreshing. Having a nice cuppa mint green tea with some Spanish guitar music .....

Epi, I love looking back at what I've written in the past. I see my personal growth in each and every word. Thanx for the follow. Funny, I thought we were mutual. We have such a connection! Anyway, thanx and enjoy the lake!

Well my sensational Shauna you will always be 19 in my heart and mind and how do you feel yourself when you look back on these words now as I write to you in this comment space.

As I always say - if you write from the heart the mind will always follow and you certainly certainly succeed on both counts.

Just finished lunch after night shift sleep and will go into the lake on a breezy light rain day because the water is warmer than the air and quite refreshing - sending 3 big Canadian hugs to you from Colin and his cat crew Tiffy and Gabriel at lake erie time 3:24pm

Thank you Spy. You have a special place in my heart. You know that, don't you?

I don't look like that anymore. The eyes and the smile are the same but the hair is gray/brown and just spilling over my shoulders. Aging gracefully, I hope!
