Author Interview with Heather Couch
Introducing Heather Couch
Young Adult fiction is a very popular genre in this day and age. Perhaps the movie industry is partly responsible for that since many of today's hit movies for teens are based on YA books, typically sci-fi series. However, these movie franchises wouldn't exist without the authors who think them up.
Heather Couch is one author who has tried her hand at the YA genre and has published her first book in a series for this age group. Maybe one day we'll see her name in the title credits of a movie based on her series.

The Interview
1. How many books have you written and where can you buy them?
I have published one novel and it can be bought at any major online book distributor; Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Lulu, Smashwords…etc.
2. What famous books can you compare to your own?
The Hunger Games, The Divergent series, Dan Brown. It’s sort of hard, because a lot of sci-fi/dystopian novels seem similar with similar themes, but they’re different.
3. Why do you write for this particular age group?
I like that YA has depth and perception about what the world goes through from an adolescent’s perspective. A lot of adolescents don’t feel like they have a voice and this is one way that they do.
4. How autobiographical are your books?
None of them are intentionally autobiographical, but I would say that it would be impossible to write without putting influences in from one’s own life.
5. What’s the best compliment that you’ve ever received about your writing?
The best compliment I’ve received is someone comparing it to Lois Lowry. I don’t know that I believe my writing is that good, but it was a very nice compliment.
6. What has been your greatest moment as a writer so far?
I am up for a fan award for favorite science fiction author. That is really humbling to me!
7. Where do you get your covers?
Jeni Prosser, she’s a photographer-an amazing one at that!
8. What is a subject/character/setting you would like to tackle?
I would like to do more on the current political/social changes our country is experiencing.
9. What is next for you?
I am writing the second novel, Constant, in the Infinity Series. I’m also working on a book trailer for Reciprocal (Book 1 in the Infinity series). Next will be the photo shoot and book trailer for Constant. That’s what is going in the writing world for me, but I do a lot of other stuff that has me going in every direction!
10. End with a favorite quote.
My own personal quote:
“Learn from the past, embrace the future, and live in the moment.”
