He sits at his desk
So quiet and still
Not reading, writing or talking
Not knowing if he will
He twirls his little fingers
And stares into space
A look of total concentration
On his little face
When he was two he learned to talk
And made his parents smile
But something happened, no one knows what
He hasn’t spoken in quite awhile
He was a happy child
Outgoing, energetic and loud
He had the sort of mind
That made his parents so proud
When he turned three
He was a different little boy
It was hard for his parents
To find the slightest bit of joy
When once they had big dreams
Of a lawyer or doctor one day
Now they only dreamed about
A “normal” little boy who wanted to play
