Autumn Leaves, Autumn Breeze, Say Goodbye to Summer.......

Updated on September 26, 2012

Seasons Changes

Cannot disguise, Cannot pretend,

The leaves on the trees betray it.

Swirling in the wind are colours of gold,

Orange and browns... not often seen.

a yellow leaf falls to the ground.

Autumn has gently pushed Summer away,

We hardly notice the subtle changes,

Until leaves are crunching beneath our shoes,

A few degrees here, a rain shower there,.......

Autumn quietly crept in.

And gently pushed Summer away.

Walking through woods at this time of year,

Is something of Creations wonder..

Forests alive with creatures so small,

Living in trees as Autumn leaves fall,

Preparing for Winter, small animals work,

Work hard at collecting their food.

They make their homes cosy ahead

of its time, when Winter ´ll encompass

the woods.

For now we enjoy the gentle fall,

pushing Summer away for this year,

crunching the leaves as they lie on dry ground,

breathing fresh air as it´s cooling down,

And crisp Autumn air replaces the heat.,

Autumn gently moves in.!

A-ha. If all 'aging old hippies' wrote with such panache and eloquence we will now be over run with peerless poetry. I suspect it takes a particular kind of world wise, well travelled, creative, considerate, compassionate soul to conjure up such elegant verse. Beautifully crafted. You've got yourself an instant follower!

What a sweet and beautiful poem, Dim. I felt very at home right in the woods. You described it so nicely. Lovely poetry always comes from your pen and you surpassed yourself with these lovely photos too. :)

    O Dream On,

    You always make my day.

I´m sure you would make an excellent squirrel. You are so hardworking as they are.

I thought it would be so cool to have a fuzzy tail and leap from tree to tree.To hide a thousand acorns a hundred different places just to find them again later.Always on the run and whenever I get the chance to stop I find time to eat. These are just a few reasons I would love to be a squirrel on your page.Have a wonderful night.

    Thank you, suzettenaples,

There is beauty in all the seasons, I think. Although I prefer the warmth of Summer to any thing else.

It was a well thought of poem that left me wanting more to read. As for the season I would prefer the most, I think Spring would be the one with all the leafs being in different colors.

Lovely autumn poem. As summer leaves us I truly welcome the cooler weather, the change in color, the rain, the snow, and the warm comfort of a good crackling fireplace.

...well how timely is this .... I was just thinking that myself - it's a miserable damp and rainy day here by the lake and it surely ushers in the fall season a lot quicker on a day like this - is summer going quicker now or are we just getting older or better - lol - I always love how you pour your feelings onto this page with such sincerity, passion and heart - sending you warm wishes and good energy from lake erie time ontario canada 12:10pm

Do not despair ImKarn23, Summer is my favourite season. I´d be quite happy for summer to be the ONLY season.

It´s the colours of Atumn that always amaze me.

This hub is certainly timely and well done. I noticed a yellow leaf from our redbud tree on the ground the other day...the first of many more to come. The best part of this time of year...September 16th, is that our temperatures are no longer climbing up to and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Yea! Fall is creeping in as you aptly stated. Voted up.

Beautiful words expressed in wonderful feelings in your work,Dim..a name that should be changed to bright,,I could not help but think of people who should be working hard in saving up food and supplies for the Winter in your work, when you mentioned the small animals and what they were so doing. Thanks for this walk through nature's garden.
