Be Different :: A Poem
Many years ago my mother actively participated in the tid-bit sections of the Times Of India newspaper. I believe that this was in the eighties. I had the fortune of retaining some of her 'works' to the regular competitions in which she mostly won. Here's one such answer to the competition titled - 'Selling Point' where readers were urged to submit their 'pitch' to sell something totally unique in an imaginative way. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Be Different!
Oh! Just try a kangaroo as a pet!
Create a new status symbol, I surely bet,
Postmen will bring your mail willingly at your door,
Here a kangaroo on a dog does score!
You could use his pouch as a shopping bag,
Or a Perambulator to carry your darling lad!
Buy one and see it swiftly multiply,
Sell his 'roo's, they'd be a good buy.
Come one, come all all the stock does last
Score on your neighbour, an envious impression cast!
