Bermuda, My Paradise II
A Poem Written After my First Trip to Bermuda
You tanned my skin to a golden brown
And spread out your lovely pink sand
Before my feet.
Your wild surf called to me
From where I stood on my rocky throne.
And I knew then that I would return.
Your natives smiled welcoming words.
Your warm winds swept down upon me.
Your crystal blue waters refreshed my tired body
As well as my weary mind.
And in your quiet, majestic beauty
I found peace.
And I knew then that I would return.
Your music filled my ears with happiness
And my voice with new found praise.
My eyes could scarce take in the green
The vividness of your abundant life.
You have magnetically reached out and encircled my heart
And as I contemplate life from my own world again
I know I have no choice but to return.
I went to Bermuda with my college choir in 1982. I was nursing a broken heart and Bermuda, with its pink sand beaches, and beautiful views, quaint country roads, and fresh sea air, did much to mend my heart. I promised myself I would go back, and I did, but only for one day on a cruise stop, on two different cruises. It's as beautiful as it was in 1982 and I will be back, hopefully for longer the next time.
I am adding some extra pictures below so you can see how absolutely beautiful Bermuda is.
Update
I have been able to return to Bermuda twice since that first visit. Both times were by cruise ship, for one day only, but my love and admiration for Bermuda still exists in my heart!
