THE RULES

A few months ago I held the first annual Billybuc Writing Contest and the entries were fantastic. Now it is time for the 2nd Annual Contest even though it is still the first year. I know that is nonsense but hey, it’s my contest so what I say goes, right?

The basic idea is to write a creative essay of no more than 1,000 words using the pictures you see on the right as prompts. There are four pictures and you must use them in sequence from top to bottom. If you go out of sequence you will be disqualified and no, you may not add pictures of your own. You choose the subject matter of your short story; it can be any genre. The only requirement is that it follow the picture prompts.

The deadline for entries is May 1st. At 12:00 a.m. May 2nd the deadline will have passed and you will be out of luck.

Yes you may publish your stories as a separate article on HubPages or any other site you choose. I do not have any ownership of your work and I have no desire to steal your work like so many other would-be writers out there lurking on the internet.

To review:

  • 1,000 words or less
  • Must follow four picture prompts in order
  • Deadline May 1, 2013

AND THE WINNER IS…..

So, what do you win? The same thing the last winner, Bravewarrior won, an autographed copy of my novel “The 12/59 Shuttle From Yesterday To Today.” At a retail value of $14.95 this is a great deal, but once I become famous, this autographed copy could be worth thousands of dollars. If you win I would suggest reading the book and then putting it in a safe deposit box for protection against possible theft. J

So that’s it. Email your entries in Word format to holland1145@yahoo.com and please put “Contest Entry” in the subject line of the email or I will not open your email.

Also, if you write for HubPages, please make sure you tell me your Hub name. :)

Good luck to all and thank you for taking part in this fun writing exercise.

2013 William D. Holland (aka billybuc)
